(O.R.R.E)
Study
The M.e.t. and the OSU-Extension
office have joined forces to establish an accurate account of verifiable jobs
in the recycling and reuse industries.
Both parties believe this information will be invaluable to
The O.R.R.E. Study was created following the outcome of a
national study known as the U.S. Recycling Economic Information (R.E.I.)
Project and anyone can read this study in its entirety online at www.nrc-recycle.org.
The U.S. R.E.I. Study was completed after the National Recycling Coalition,
Inc. (NRC) retained a nationally known management consulting firm, R.W. Beck,
Inc., to conduct the first ever study of this magnitude related to the
recycling and reuse industries. The M.e.t. staff was inspired to research and locate similar
information for our own state since

Dear
Ms. Doe:
Today
we are writing to ask your assistance in responding to the brief,
enclosed survey. This essential
information will assist in improving current jobs as well as creating new jobs
in Oklahoma within the recycling and reuse industries. The Metropolitan Environmental Trust (The M.e.t.) will compile the data and work with Oklahoma State
University Extension Office (OSU Extension) to form an aggregate analysis.
We
need your assistance by filling out the enclosed survey. Also, we must emphasize that the
information you provide will be held strictly confidential – under no
circumstances will a company’s specific data be released.
The
National Recycling Coalition Inc. recently completed the U.S. Recycling
Economic Information Study (R.E.I.), which illustrates the recycling
industry had a significant impact on the U.S. economy and was comparable to the
auto and truck manufacturing industry.
Our
hope is to give a more specific view of the recycling and reuse industry in the
State of Oklahoma. The Oklahoma
Recycling & Reuse Employment Study (O.R.R.E.) will begin with a local
sample from the greater Tulsa area, which will initiate our long-term goal to
complete a statewide study. For
additional information about the U.S. R.E.I. Study go to nrc-recycle.org
and for additional information about the local O.R.R.E. go to
metrecycle.com.
Once
the initial sample is completed we will share these findings with our community
leaders, businesses, and the Tulsa area citizens. This information will be invaluable to
recycling officials and DEQ officials.
We must emphasize again that the information you provide will be held
strictly confidential – under no circumstances will a company’s specific data
be released. Your responses will be
aggregated with data provided by other businesses and only released as
aggregated totals.
We
have staff that would gladly assist you with any questions you might have.
Please contact Ande’ Reed or Corey Wren Williams at (918) 584-0584. If you wish, you may fax your completed
survey to the M.e.t. at (918) 584-0594. We would appreciate a response by March 08,
2002. Thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely,
