The Metropolitan Environmental
Trust is a multi-government agency that facilitates recycling and other
environmental programs in the Tulsa metro area. 
Friends of The M.e.t. is a non-profit
group made up of people who care enough about their local environment
to donate time, money or equipment to support these efforts.
Why we need you
Friends not only donate time, money and other resources to help maintain environmental programs, they also make a difference by letting policy makers know what they think about environmental issues.
Why you need us
- Well, OK, you don't actually need us. But as a M.e.t. Friend, you not only get to feel good about the fact that you're helping the environment, you also get some pretty cool benefits.
- Regular issues of the newsletter, Green Scene, to keep you up to date on everything that's going on locally in recycling and our events
- A Friends auto glass decal and lapel pin.
Some of the things we've done together
M.e.t Friends have a lot of reasons to be proud. With the support of our Friends, in only a few short years, the Me.t. has grown from a mostly advisory role in helping solve solid waste problems to operating recycling centers all over the Tulsa metro area, seven days a week. In 1995, The M.e.t. removed from the waste stream more than 9 million pounds of materials that otherwise would have been thrown away, including:
- 20,000 pounds of newspaper a day, seven days a week
- New items, such as steel cans, eyeglasses and hearing aids
- And through the twice-annual Household Pollutant Collection Events, we've collected and disposed of more than a million pounds of pollutants that otherwise might have been disposed of improperly and ended up in our waterways or environment.
M.e.t. Friends help make these achievements possible. To find out more about the Friends program, call The M.e.t. at 584-0584. Initial Friends annual dues range from $10 to $25 the first year.
